Events

The TEER Program actively engages our community in events and activities that will help to increase knowledge and understanding of the kanamaluka / Tamar estuary. This includes knowing the species that live here, impacts and pressures acting on our waterways, and the role that we can all play in protecting and enhancing local ecosystems and water quality.

Clean-up event

Held annually at Royal Park in Launceston come along to a clean-up of a popular recreation space and protect the kanamaluka / Tamar estuary from rubbish pollution.

A team will be on-site at the Royal Park boat ramp with bags and gloves for you to use. Whether you can stop by for 10 minutes, half an hour - every bit of litter picked up helps. Each year, the 'Catch-it in the Catchment' initiative removes hundreds of kg's of rubbish from the environment before it has a chance to enter the waterways. Rubbish entering aquatic environments has severely negative impacts on species that can ingest or become entangled in rubbish.

You can find, join, or even organise a local clean-up event by visiting the Clean-up Australia website www.cleanup.org.au

This clean-up event is part of the Catch-it in the Catchment initiative by Tamar NRM.
